Holy Ghost Prep received Bensalem Council approval for the final land development plan for the Holt Center, the $5 million arts and athletic center to be completed by the end of 2017.
The 26,000-square-foot facility will be at the site of the old Bound Beverage across from the school’s campus on Bristol Pike.
The building, purchased by Holy Ghost Prep for $1.5 million, will be renovated to include a performing arts center, multi-purpose gymnasium, music instruction rooms and training areas for the school’s athletic programs.
Holy Ghost President Greg Geruson said that school officials began a strategic planning process about a year and a half ago to identify priorities for the school’s vision.
“That vision is to be the premier Catholic college prep school,” he said. “To be able to have this from a competitive standpoint is highly desirable.”
The project is named for the Holt family, who has deep roots at Holy Ghost and late last year made the largest individual gift in school history at $500,000.
